117 declared that they were offering Jagex an option in the form of dropping their application once Jagex had released their own, and RuneScape gold giving Jagex "collaborative influence" over Runelite HD's design style.
"They have not been able to accept the offer," 117 said. "I am extremely dissatisfied and angry with Jagex, and I am extremely disappointed for this lengthy journey it's not possible to present this project to you. The mod 117 has been working on doesn't appear to be in line with Jagex's guidelines for third-party clients, however the Runescape developer has said it will be reviewing the guidelines next week to include references for initiatives that impact the look and feel in the gameplay.
Original Runelite developer Adam1210 has shared his thoughts on Reddit, saying that the ability to allow Runelite HD to continue would have a direct benefit for future updates from Jagex.
"I also strongly disagree with adding it to the "third party guidelines," Adam1210 said.
